Yarn Chicken Loss

I was working on another hat for the Christmas at Sea program. I thought I would have enough of the light blue to mix with some red to make a stripe in the hat. It was looking very nice until I realized I was not even close to winning at yarn chicken. Not enough blue yarn to complete the top half of the hat.

I frogged the hat. I could not even stand to take a picture of the disaster. After a few days to get over the hurt I cast on again. This time I am using a brand new skein of red yarn. I will add a blue stripe or two to use up the bits and bobs I have.

Honestly, I am not even sure why I take pictures of the work in progress for these hats to post on Ravelry. The finished hats turn out to look nothing like the progress pictures. I mean the hats are not even the same color scheme when I am done:(
