YOP 14 Plans

Okay so I will make some plans but we all know how life sometimes changes your plan:) After completing my first YOP I have some ideas about what I would like to add/subtract, etc. In addition I will be setting monthly goals for myself - I think this might work better for me?

Knitting Plans/Goals

6 pairs of socks, 1 charity item a month (could also be crochet), 2 sweaters, 2 shawls match and maybe pick a yarn weight per month to work with instead of a specific designer or pattern. Heaven knows I have tons of patterns I would like to knit in my Ravelry library. - this year I would like to knit at least 4 from that source.

July goals: finish Jeffrey Pine Cardigan, finish 2 pairs of socks (one pair is already on the needles and half completed), complete at least half of my Christmas in July Advent project of the Anthology Throw, maybe finish the orange Seafarer's vest which is a charity knit.

Sewing Plans/Goals

I have a lot of fabric and I really want to use some of that up this year. I also have quite a few patterns - some I would like to revisit and some new ones to try. Therefore I think I want to set a monthly plan to sew certain types of garments or fabric class.

July goal: I would like to sew using the few Big 4 patterns I know and love. Big 4 patterns are those manufactured by Butterrick, Simplicity, etc. I have not bought a Big 4 pattern in years. The directions are usually terrible, designs uninspiring and the general sloper used for those patterns does not fit my body. I also want to use up some cotton wovens I have and also begin to work down my sweatshirt fleece fabric stash.

I am starting there because those fabric take up a lot of space in the sewing storage facility. I might actually have a few pieces ready to wear when colder weather begins in November.

Canning Plans/Goals

Instead of preselecting recipes to can I am going to try to can at least one item per month. I found last year that many of the recipes I wanted to try were not popular with the peeps I feed. I know what we use on a weekly basis - stock and more stock. I also make lots of jams/jellies to gift year round.

July goal: review/rearrange canned goods cupboard to see what I have, what I need and what is no longer good. Completed 7/5/24

Embroidery/Cross Stitch Plans/Goals

I would like to begin to at least work on some of my long standing WIPS (you know who you are) monthly. This was probably my least completed section last year.

July goal: work at least 3 hours over the month on a project.

Crochet Plans/Goals

This past year I discovered brand new crochet garment designers and fell back into love with crochet. I would like to crochet at least 3 garments this year.

July goals: finish Peek A Boo Cardigan (7/6/24), begin Taylor Swift inspired crochet dress

Cricut Plans/Goals

use it to cut our fabric for sewing projects, earrings, 12 cards

July goal: complete at least 3 projects from the Amy Romeu Summer craft event I am attending virtually

Misc Goals/Plans

These are more personal goals that are important to me: completing budgeting/monthly expense reports, workout at least 3 times a week (during the school year), enter County Fair with various sewing/canning items, read over 100 books in 2024 (I am well on my way I have read 63 so far), write more snail mail to send to friends.

July goals: complete July expense report, workout 5 times a week, write 4 letters/cards to send to friends
