All About the Fair

The county I live in is huge in square acres. The County Fair is actually about an hour drive from where I live. When my daughter was a small child I would take her every year. She loved the petting zoo and all the animals I loved looking at all the exhibits. This year one of my "bucket list" items was to enter something in the fair. I actually entered 5 items - a dressed I sewed, a cowl I knitted and 3 jars of canned goods. For my first fair entry in quite a few years (we used to enter the Fair when I was a child and lived on a farm).

I selected the Ellie & Mac Heart and Soul dress. I loved my fabric choice and the twist in front looks hard but is actually quite easy to achieve. The judges must have thought so also since it won a blue ribbon and 3rd Best in class.

The knit item I entered was a stranded knit cowl. I think it looks as lovely on the outside as it does on the inside. It won a blue ribbon.

The preserves were a big hit. I entered a jar of jam, pickled beets and canned pineapple.

I appreciate the notes included on the judges sheet.

In addition to the blue ribbon each jar won Judge's Choice and a Best in Class ribbon.

Not bad for my first attempt. I work hard on my crafts and it is nice to receive some confirmation that I am on the right path. I earned 12 ribbons - I am already thinking about what I will enter next year.
