Christmas Crackers

Last year I saw a project in Cricut Design Space for handmade Christmas Crackers (a British tradition). I saved the project but did not find the time to make the crackers happen in 2021. This year the crackers were made and enjoyed at Christmas dinner.

I found chocolates and a little toy to include. I looked up some "terrible" Christmas themed jokes online and typed them up onto paper to include and then I made the crowns.

I first cut the crowns out of felt on the Cricut Maker. I got to use my rotary blade. The Cricut cuts felt like a dream. I have hand cut felt and it is no fun.

The sayings were included on the project page. I cut them out of gold HTV and placed them on each crown. I then used ribbon from my stash to make strings so we could tie them on our heads.

All the items were placed inside an empty paper towel holder tube and wrapped. They did not pop when opened, but we still enjoyed the whole process and idea.

The best part is now the crowns are made so they can be reused year after year.
