No idea why the hell I knit

I really do not have much idea of why I actually knit. I think I like it but am rarely to never satisfied with the finished items. I can count on one hand the objects that I have knit that are a success. My socks always look wonky, sweaters never fit, etc. About the only thing that ever actually looks like a finished project you would want to use are hats. I live in the southwest and no one needs 20 hats out here. My family does not desire anything I actually knit (or for that matter any items I craft).

I finished the beast project and it was a total waste of my time. First the final measurements are huge. It is supposed to be blocked out at 22" across the top, 33" length and 70" bottom. Mine is no where near those dimensions except in length.

Below is a picture of when I did try to block it. Of course since it is so huge my one stack of blocking boards are not enough to get those dimensions. I looked up some youtube videos and they showed how you could block on towels and let the item air dry outside. Here is my lame attempt at that. This looks like a dress not a poncho/shawl thing at all. My pins do not hold it because it is on a concrete block. I would try it inside but we got new carpeting 6 months ago and I know my family would not be happy with damp carpeting. Plus I have pets so it will have to be done in a room in which no animals can then enter for at least 24 hours (also not an option).

I guess I have just spent months knitting a charity donation item.
