Paperbag skirt
It seems that paperbag skirts were all the rage a few years ago, but I keep seeing new patterns on my feeds so maybe they are coming back.
I was never sure if the style would look nice on my body type. The skirt should have some structure and not be completed in a light weight woven. I was dropping off a bag or two of items at the thrift store the other day. I wandered back into the linen area and found 2 different sheet sets. Old sheets are perfect for making muslin of new patterns. I thought that must be a sign of some sort?
About 2 years ago I purchased a paperbag skirt pattern from Ellie & Mac, but had never made a version. I decided to use at least a portion of the sheet to make a sample. The pockets on the pattern are slanted (which I like as a pattern feature). The pattern was easy to follow and the directions are very well written.
Here is the finished item. I think it turned out super cute. It fits which is always a win. I will have to work on styling the skirt. I am not a big fan of tucking shirts but I think you need to do that with this type of skirt. It will be worn a few times before I decide if I want to make another. I wore it out in public and this is a very comfortable skirt. It will go in the make me again pile.
