YOP Week 2/53

Maybe it is writing things down, but I did actually get a few things completed this week.

Knitting

  • 6 pairs of socks
  • Finish the Naughty Sweater completed 7/6/23 I blogged about the misadventures here
  • Finish the sweater for my sister
  • Summer sweater knit (Vibes)
  • cardigan for me
  • Stephen West project
  • Row and Kates project
  • Tifneilan project
  • Petite Knits project
  • Melissa K designs project
  • Stephanie Lotven design project
  • Joji Locatelli project

Weekly Update: I cast on a new pair of socks (Make Your Mark kit) which are turning out adorable. I am only about 2 inches away from dividing for the sleeves on the sweater for my sister, though I have to check the notes I took because I believe I might actually be 4 inches away based on the length of sweater she wanted.

Crochet

  • finish the lace tablecloth I began in 1997
  • finish Sundance Throw
  • Sophia dish towel

Weekly Update: I am very close to actually completing the Sundance Throw. Probably about another hour or so of crochet and it will off the hook.

Cross stitch

  • finish Tower of London card
  • finish Mom project I began in 2000 (this will be the hardest to complete. I was working on this project when my mother passed away)

Weekly Update: I put a few stitches into the Tower of London. I have started the outlining stitch on the completed portions. Outline stitch makes a project pop, but it is so tedious.

Cricut

  • 12 pairs of earrings
  • 2 engraving projects
  • make 6 cards
  • 1 balsa wood project
  • 6 vinyl projects

Weekly Update: Well I bought some objects to put vinyl on if that counts. I picked up the plastic 3 ring binders I gift to each student to hold papers inside their desk all year. I cut out and attach vinyl to them so the students can tell at a glance where the binder belongs.

Canning (canning meals in jars)

  1. Vindaloo Curry
  2. pork ribs
  3. beef stew
  4. beef stroganoff in a jar
  5. corned beef & potatoes
  6. white chicken chili canned on 7/6/23
  7. chicken gravy
  8. chicken a la king
  9. marinera sauce
  10. can 5 pounds of sweet potatoes
  11. pulled pork barbeque
  12. Ham-Bean soup

Weekly Update: In addition to canning I also ran into a great sale on pork loin (buy 1 get 1 free). I sliced one of the loins into 1 inch thick slices. They got popped into a vacuum sealer bag and can be used to make quick meals later in the year.

Sewing

  • complete 2 hoodies
  • sew 6 dresses
  • sew 6 bags
  • sew 4 pairs of pants
  • sew 6 shirts
  • sew 4 woven (fabric) patterns
  • sew 4 knit (fabric) patterns

Weekly Update: I mostly cut out patterns and material over the week so I can sew. Over time I have decided batch cutting and sewing is the way to go. I then have a variety of sewing projects to keep me busy.

Overall Goal: enter at least one item in my county fair.
