Luckily I still have a few more weeks left of my summer break to craft away.

Knitting Plans/Goals

July goals: finish Jeffrey Pine Cardigan, finish 2 pairs of socks (one pair is already on the needles and half completed), complete at least half of my Christmas in July Advent project of the Anthology Throw, maybe finish the orange Seafarer's vest which is a charity knit.

Update: I finished one of the pair of socks for the month. I cast on the Stephen West sock along but it will be frogged. He is such an imaginative designer, but so many different patterns in one sock. Clue 1 contained 4 different sections. It is enjoyable learning new knitting techniques, but not the overwhelming amount in his sock patterns. I think the possible brioche heel in clue #2 was the final straw. I did a general yarn crafting update yesterday.

Sewing Plans/Goals

July goal: I would like to sew using the few Big 4 patterns I know and have used in the past. Big 4 patterns are those manufactured by Butterrick, Simplicity, etc. I have not bought a Big 4 pattern in years. The directions are usually terrible, designs uninspiring and the general sloper used for those patterns does not fit my body. I also want to use up some cotton wovens I have and also begin to work down my sweatshirt fleece fabric stash.

Update: Okay I played around with the pants and I think I may have finally found a pattern that is usable. Surprise, surprise it is not a Big 4 pattern. Well let me rethink or overthink that:)

Canning Plans/Goals

July goal: review/rearrange canned goods cupboard to see what I have, what I need and what is no longer good. Completed 7/5/24

Embroidery/Cross Stitch Plans/Goals

July goal: work at least 3 hours over the month on a project.

Update: completed another hour on the project, monthly total is now 2 hours.

Crochet Plans/Goals

July goals: finish Peek A Boo Cardigan (7/6/24), begin Taylor Swift inspired crochet dress

Update: The dress is underway. I have about 10 rows completed. I had to frog the first 3 rows I worked because I decided I wanted the dress longer.

Cricut Plans/Goals

July goal: complete at least 3 projects from the Amy Romeu Summer craft event I am attending virtually

Update: Okay I swear I have completed some of the projects I had planned but keep getting distracted by shiny new things. This week it is super cute Hello Summer cards.

Misc Goals/Plans

July goals: complete July expense report, workout 5 times a week, write 4 letters/cards to send to friends

Update: I wrote a few cards this week, but one was a sympathy card for a church friend who husband passed away (so in my mind should not be counted in my weekly total). If you ever have the opportunity to write to a former teacher do it - it will make their day. I wrote to my high school math teacher to thank her for teaching me when I do not really have an gift for math to put it nicely. My parents were both teachers so I knew many of my teachers as family friends (small town life). I wrote to my kindergarten teacher a few times a year until she passed away. As a teacher it warms my heart to hear from former students. I also made it to the workout room 5 times this week.
