YOP 5/53

This is my last full week of summer vacation. I have had a very relaxing summer break. A few trips, lots of crafting and seeing family.

Knitting

  • 6 pairs of socks

  • Finish the Naughty Sweater 7/6/23
  • Finish the sweater for my sister
  • Summer sweater knit (Vibes)
  • cardigan for me
  • Stephen West project
  • Row and Kates project
  • Tifneilan project
  • Petite Knits project
  • Melissa K designs project
  • Stephanie Lotven design project
  • Joji Locatelli project

Weekly Update: I finished the pencil socks and even blocked them! They turned out super cute, but will have to worn with some open toe footwear to get the full effect. I cast on for the Stephen West Sock Along. I am already off script with the pattern LOL. German twisted cast on and I are not friends. I just did my regular sock cast on. I tried them on over my leg after 20 rows and they fit so I am just continuing on my merry way.

Crochet

Weekly Update: Oops, I don't think I crochet even one stitch this week. I am a little obsessed with the Stephen West socks (see above).

Cross stitch

  • finish Tower of London card
  • finish Mom project I began in 2000 (this will be the hardest to complete. I was working on this project when my mother passed away)

Weekly Update: I ordered and picked up a little tiny frame for the Tower of London piece. I thought about making it into an ornament, but frankly I already have too many of those and not enough Christmas tree to hang them all.

Cricut

Weekly Update: I joined in on the Barbie craze and made a pair of earrings.

Canning (canning meals in jars)

  1. Vindaloo Curry 7/21/23
  2. pork ribs
  3. beef stew
  4. beef stroganoff in a jar (changed to canned grapes) 7/28/23
  5. corned beef & potatoes
  6. white chicken chili 7/6/23
  7. chicken gravy
  8. watermelon lemonade concentrate (originally chicken a la king) 7/10/23
  9. marinera sauce
  10. can 5 pounds of sweet potatoes
  11. pulled pork barbeque
  12. Ham-Bean soup

Weekly Update: Another change in the canning list. My DD loves beef stroganoff but only the way I make it. After reviewing the recipe I thought she probably would not like the canned version. It is actually quite an easy meal to make since I make it in the crockpot. I just place all the ingredients into the slow cooker in the morning before I leave for work. Also I saw a post on canning grapes - I thought that would be interesting. Grapes happened to be on sale so that was all it took to turn my head.

Sewing

  • complete 2 hoodies
  • sew 6 dresses
  • sew 6 bags

  • sew 4 pairs of pants
  • sew 6 shirts
  • sew 4 woven (fabric) patterns
  • sew 4 knit (fabric) patterns

Weekly Update: The Hudson is completed and just waiting for the first day of work to get a real test drive.

I continue to struggle my way through new patterns. I am trying to get some new patterns at least out of the testing muslin stage before I go back to work. Once I have worked out the fit issues and modified the pattern to fit it takes much less time to sew up a new outfit.

Overall Goal: enter at least one item in my county fair. (this will have to wait until March when it opens for entries).
