Oh can we claim to be about 1/5 of the way through the YOP year yet? I guess if Starbucks can already have Pumpkin Spice everything I can rush a season myself:)

Canning (canning meals in jars)

  1. Vindaloo Curry 7/21/23
  2. pork ribs
  3. beef stew
  4. beef stroganoff in a jar (changed to canned grapes) 7/28/23
  5. corned beef & potatoes
  6. white chicken chili 7/6/23
  7. chicken gravy
  8. watermelon lemonade concentrate (originally chicken a la king) 7/10/23
  9. marinera sauce
  10. can 5 pounds of sweet potatoes
  11. pulled pork barbeque
  12. Ham-Bean soup
  13. extra: Peach jam 8/4/23

Weekly Update: Not canning related but I used my Instant Pot to make Wild Rice as a side dish this week and it turned out perfect. If you have ever tried to cook wild rice on the stove top you know it is a long process. 30 minutes in the Instant Pot and viola a new side dish.

Sewing

Weekly Update: Sewing has been frustrating over the past 2 weeks. The pants saga continues. I am going to be beyond livid if after all of the pocket drama the silly things don't fit correctly when finished (pants are very hard sometimes to get the fit correct). The dress or portions thereof were repurposed. I had already cut out the skirt portion and the pockets. I sewed the sides together with the pockets, gathered up the waistband and attached a yoga waistband. It actually made a lovely skirt. The top pieces are being recut into a pair of underwear. Not the original plan for the material but I at least salvaged everything but my time in trying to make the dress pattern work. I bought some more Rayon Spandex material so I can try again. I think if I cut out the material correctly I can actually achieve a dress.
