YOP 13/53

In answer to a question I have received about how I manage all the crafting - I don't watch much if any television. I watch a few shows on Saturday night on PBS, but sometimes not even that because I have the PBS app and am a member of my local station. This allows me to watch whatever I would like when I want to watch. I do watch knitting youtubes but only while I am actually knitting.

Knitting

  • 6 pairs of socks

  • Finish the Naughty Sweater 7/6/23
  • Finish the sweater for my sister
  • Summer sweater knit (Vibes)
  • cardigan for me
  • Stephen West project
    • Secret Sock Along 8/12/23, 9/2/23

  • Row and Kates project
  • Tifneilan project
  • Petite Knits project
  • Melissa K designs project
  • Stephanie Lotven design project
  • Joji Locatelli project
  • Charity Knitting

Weekly Update: I had to wind another skein of yarn for my sister's sweater. I am not sure why, but this yarn gives me fits on the winder. I tend to put it off and then I will wind up a few other yarns after struggling with the sweater yarn just to prove to myself that I do know how to wind yarn.

Crochet

Weekly Update: I crocheted on this at least twice this week while watching knitting youtube videos.

Cross stitch

  • finish Tower of London card 8/5/23
  • finish Mom project I began in 2000 (this will be the hardest to complete. I was working on this project when my mother passed away)

Weekly Update: No stitching this week. I hope to find a little time later in the weekend.

Weekly Update: The card I made turned out super cute. I signed up for a free ticket for a Halloween card making 2 week program. So far I have only really liked one of the many projects presented so far. I downloaded the pattern, but haven't cut anything out yet. As an aside I do not understand about gnomes. This program has at least 3 gnome projects - they are just not anything that interests me.

Canning (canning meals in jars)

  1. Vindaloo Curry 7/21/23
  2. pork ribs
  3. beef stew
  4. beef stroganoff in a jar (changed to canned grapes) 7/28/23
  5. corned beef & potatoes
  6. white chicken chili 7/6/23
  7. chicken gravy
  8. watermelon lemonade concentrate (originally chicken a la king) 7/10/23
  9. marinera sauce
  10. can 5 pounds of sweet potatoes
  11. pulled pork barbeque
  12. Ham-Bean soup
  13. extra: Peach jam 8/4/23

Weekly Update: I canned 6 pints of beef stock last weekend. I was searching in the freezer for something else and rediscovered a bag of beef bones I had placed in there to use for stock. When making stock I use my slow cooker. I put all the ingredients in and turn it on low overnight. I strain the stock in the morning and then place it in the fridge. When i get home from work the fat has risen to the top. I remove it and then quickly put the stock into glass jars and my digital canner. It is done and ready to be placed on the shelf by the time I am ready to go to bed.

Sewing

Weekly Update: The skirt was an unexpected bonus from a sewing adventure that looked like it would not work at all.
